“The Monkey’s Paw” & “The Third Wish” Compare and Contrast
This essay will explain how two stories are comparing and contrasting. These two stories “The Monkeys Paw” by W.W. Jacobs and “The Third Wish” by Joan Aiken both use some of their three wishes that they have but it doesn’t turn out exactly how they want. The theme of “The Monkeys Paw” is , Don’t make wishes if you don’t know the consequence. Also, the theme of the story “The Third Wish” is , others interest before your own. In addition, the reason for The Monkeys Paw theme is because Mrs. White didn’t realize what she wished for when she wished her dead son back to life. The reason for The Third Wish theme is because when Mr. Perkens had his wife he was super happy, but his wife wasn’t, and she wanted to go back with her sister as a swan. The mood for TMP (the monkeys paw) is depressing and sad, for that reason is because when Mrs. White’s wish came true her son came back a deadly mutant. The mood for TTW (the third wish) is peaceful and romantic because he would rather have is wife happy instead of himself, and also he died nice and peaceful with no harm. The main character in TMP is Mr.White who is a little childish and a sore loser because when he lost a game of chess to his son , he acted like a little kid. The main character in TTW is Mr.Perkens who is A lovable and benevolent man who was just looking for a wife that loved him. In the end he ended up alone. Well that is my compare and contrast about the two stories “The Monkeys Paw “ and “The Third Wish”.
